Ashlei stood perfectly still, receiving two shots from him at first that both pelted into her body: one into her right shoulder and another into her left breast. She shuddered and took a step backwards as the bullets engraved themselves into her body, then she took a step forward and lowered her arms. Kid however was taking no chances as he span around her and rammed his gun into her back, firing yet another bullet that would tear through her body as if she was made of water. Rapidly, Ashleis body began to react badly and she lost her footing. Falling forwards relatively fast, she crashed 3 metres in front of kid and lay there on the floor. She didn’t do anything at first, but then she began to chuckle. Her body was leaking blood all over the floor and joining with the blood already littered there. Her head turned she that she could look towards kid, and then a tongue wriggled from her mouth and stroked the bloody floor. Tasting the blood, she began to do something rather dangerous even for her standards. All of a sudden, the blood on the walls began to shift. The red detached itself from the wall and splashed over into Ashleis direction. Landing all over her body, she lay there in a sort of cocoon of red.

This red mass was churning, as if something inside the bloody mess was sucking the blood in. In the blink of an eye, the blood instantly vanished into her mouth. Her body weirdly, began to move. Kid wouldn’t expect her to keep moving after three successful shots but she was indeed moving. Her legs stood firmly and her body rose up from the floor without her hands to help. She stumbled slightly, then stared right into Kids eyes.

That felts good… Please…do it again…

She grinned, the holes where the bullets had thudded into began to close up and stop bleeding. her eyes, were much more vibrant with a sort of glowing crimson colour. her hair started to flow behind her in an invisible wind and then without any warning…

… she vanished…

Kid froze as the girl was enveloped in the putrid entrails of her last victim. He considered firing shots into the cocoon-like mound of blood, but something had him frozen in his place, unable to move and almost unable to think. As the blood began to move, he managed to take a step back in confused horror. As the girl stood before him, he stared as the last trickle of blood made it’s way down her throat.

Her eyes locked with Kid’s. Every nerve in his body was ablaze with fear and his hands shook violently. A whimper formed in his throat but died before it left his quivering lips. What was this creature that stood before him? Nothing could invoke fear in a reaper, but this girl had done it. She had done it well.

It took a few seconds for her words to register with Kid’s conciousness. He raised his guns, hands still shaking, and pointed them at the girl. He had already assessed the fight, and the way it had played out so far had left him with no other choice. Through the resonance link with his weapons, he began to pass a message through.

Before he got the chance, the girl vanished. The sight of her disappearing took the breath out of Kid’s body and his mind lost focus.

She could be anywhere

chaozi94:

The smoke began to clear from the air around the woman. Those were some pretty nice guns to be able to cloud vision like that. Not like it really mattered. His footsteps, his heartbeat, his breath. She could feel it all. Standing perfectly still, the girl took every shot he fired at her. Flinching as the force of the bullets snapped her body forwards then back, she began to grow a creepy smile across her face bearing what looked like a pair of fangs. Her body was oddly beginning to bleed showing an obvious amount of damage. Her dress was growing faint with blood stains and all this time, she stood in that same spot looking up at the ceiling. Then suddenly, she burst out laughing. Her eyes lost it’s whiteness and went completely red. Her hair began to float up behind her as if a force was making her feel lighter.

“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!”

Suddenly, the air in the building became incredibly dense as if gravity itself had doubled it’s weight. The girl looked completely unaffected by it even though her body looked very frail at this moment. After her little outburst, the weight soothed back to normal, but most windows in the building had shattered. She then turned to Kid, lifting up her right hand which was now coated in blood that had trickled down from her shoulder bullet wound. She began to walk up to him, lapping at her fingers with her tongue. She then spoke:

“My name is Ashlei Mischevang… people tend to call me… The Hollow Queen”

Kid held his head in his hands and let out a scream as the pressure in the room increased. The scream went unheard in the thick, heavy air and he dropped to his knees in agony. As the pressure lifted, he breathed quickly and heavily before looking up towards the girl once more. Blood dripping from his ears, he stood up and swayed slightly as he tried to regain his balance. His eyes had lost the golden glaze and had returned to their normal state. The black needles that once protruded from his body had snapped, the shattered remains laying on the floor still crackled with black energy.

The Hollow Queen? What is this thing? Nothing could stand up to that barrage. Nothing…

Kid, still swaying, raised his guns once more to the girl. The black needles began to grow once more as the resonance rate was increased. Black lightning once again jolted through them. The blood that ran down Kids face dried and turned to powder before falling to the floor. As Kid himself was jolted, his eyes regained their golden glaze and the needles grew at a faster rate.

“I do not know what you are” Kid announced in a voice that was more of a growl than human speech “But you must be punished and purged from this world. I will see to your execution. Today”

As the girl advanced towards him, he jumped and aimed to land behind her.

feathered-terror:

The creature happily chased after it, a happy squawk passing through her beak as she pounced on it, then chased it back towards where the Reaper stood.

Leena blinked, watching as he sifted through the things that Maka had either bought, or made for her.

“Maka..”

Kid picked up on the longing in Leena’s voice and placed his palm atop her head before ruffling the downy feathers on her head.

“You like that guy don’t you. It looks like he likes you anyhow. It seems he takes good care of you anyway” He withdrew his hand and picked up the laser pointer.

She seems intelligent enough… But I wonder…

Kid flicked on the laser and shone it on the floor in front of Leena.

“Catch it!”

feathered-terror:

“Mess?……”

Leena pushed herself onto her feet, giving the room a lookover before noting how tidy it was. She then realized what he was talking about, and nodded with a goofy looking ‘grin’.

“Mhkay! Play.”

She then nudged a ball towards him, hoping that he might toss it for her.

Kid chuckled as he picked up the ball and rolled it towards a chair at the fair end of the room.

He had never had a pet before, his father never let him keep one lest his compulsions interfered somehow. As he cast his eyes over the range of toys Alice had packed into the box, he became curious as to how Leena manages to fit in the box in the first place.

Pull ropes, soft toys, balls with bells in them, feathers (which he found a little ironic), and a laser pointer. It looked like Kid’s quiet afternoon was about to become a little more interesting.

feathered-terror:

“Leena!”

She let out a happy squeaky-sounding squawk at the sight of him, Alice having told her where she was going beforehand.

“Play! Out!”

The little griffon attempted to climb up the side of the cardboard, but slipped back down each time.

“Out out!”

“Yes yes okay not yet. Let me get you inside.” Kid panicked internally. He was hoping on a quiet afternoon to himself with no real priorities.

He took the box containing the fluffy feathered beast and placed it in the study he had originated from. Taking a quick look around and determining the most symmetrical way, he moved the coffee table before rocking the box over so that it fell on one side.

A torrent of toys followed by a ball of feathers and fur tumbled out of it onto the rug in the centre of the room.

“Promise me” he looked the currently lopsided griffon in the eyes “promise me you won’t make a mess. Understood?”

the-mad-meister:

“Okay great, take this okay? And don’t piss her off, though I made sure to feed her before I brought her over. I also have a few of her toys that Maka gave me and stuff so here.”

Alice didn’t bother waiting for his response, instead choosing to shove the box into his arms, then giving him a wide smile.

“Kyle and I have a mission so please watch her for us while we’re gone!”

Kid was dumbstruck as the events played out in front of him. Fumbling with the box, he finally gained a hold of it before staring as the raven haired meister bounded back down his path. A flat “What.” escaped his lips as she finally ran out of sight.

Curious to the boxes contents, and to the fact it was moving, he cracked open the lid and spied the feathery contents inside.

“Oh, hello again” he uttered as he stared blankly at the creature in front of him.

Alice rushed up the front steps of Gallows mansion, a medium sized box tucked under her arm, the said box moving slightly as though something…alive…were in it.

“Kid?! Kid c’mon! I need you to do something for me, it’s really important and you’d be doing it for Maka too!”

She rang the doorbell eight times exactly, hoping this would summon the reaper.

Kid sat in his study, quietly sipping a mug of tea as his eyes scanned the page of the book in his other hand. He had the house to himself and was rather enjoying the peace. Classical music played on the air as he placed his mug down before turning a page and returning it to his hand.

As the doorbell rung, he started to count the number of rings.

Eight? Hm. Must be important.

placing his book and tea on the coffee table, he walked to the front doors of the manor and strained his ears to listen. Opening the door, he raised an eyebrow as he eyed up the box.

“A favour? For you and Maka? Well I suppose I could~”

chaozi94:

Ooh, you want to arrest me?

The girl smiled as if she found the concept humorous. She had no plans to leave this building with Kid. In fact, she also had no plans on him leaving either. She let go of the chains and slowly began to walk up towards Kid, completely undeterred by the spikes on his shoulders and his threatening stance. She bend down so her face was level with his and spoke again, quite close to his guns.

Boy, iv’e seen your face as you walked up here. I can feel how frightened you and those…. people your holding are. Your bodies are making the air vibrate nicely. Even though iv’e not been in this world for long, I already understand how you students work. It’s quite simple really…

She licked her lips and then stood up straight again, holding her arms out as if she was welcoming them in.

Feel free to try and take me in. I wont go because you say so. Here… have a free shot…”

She grinned even more menacingly…

Kid took his chance while he could and fired too powerful shots. He wondered if accepting the girls challenge was a good idea, but he realised he had little choice. Using the smoke as a disguise, he whirled around the girl and jammed one of his guns into her back. Pulling the trigger, he leapt back and crouched with guns aimed  perfectly at where the girl stood.

Black needles crackling, he stood and glared at the girl. The damage caused would be enough to kill even the most powerful witches of the land. But something about the shot didn’t feel right.

“Liz, Patty. I’m going to need to you to push the resonance rate but don’t go into execution mode. got it?”

He specified only because he was more mobile when not in execution mode. The black needles grew larger and crackled with black lightning once more. His eyes began to glow as more needles grew from his heels and elbows.

“This is your final warning!” He yelled above the hums and crackles of the resonance “Surrender now, or I used my full force available.”

feathered-terror:

“Leena.”

She hung her head a bit, still looking ashamed for attacking the Shinigami.

“Don’t worry about it. You got confused, I got confused, it’s just a mis-understanding, that’s all” Kid said in an attempt to bring the creatures spirits up.

“So you are actually a griffon? I’m not hallucinating? Can you fly? Do your wings flap symmetrically?” his eyes opened wide in wonder as he asked questions.

feathered-terror:

Within seconds of hearing that he was ‘house-sitting’, Leena instantly felt bad. Her ears going back and pressing against her skull out of shame.

“Sorry….Not know…”

It was true though, that Leena didn’t know. Maka was going to say something, but Soul had ripped him away and out the door.

“It’s okay. You didn’t know I was here and I didn’t know you were here…” he stared at the griffon for a moment, a hint of confusion on his face.

“So.. what’s your name?”
